Healthy Start services are now provided by Florida Department of Health in Baker County. The Healthy Start staff can be contacted at (904) 653-5274.

Healthy Start provides counseling, referral and support services to high risk clients, prenatal, and newborn to one year of age. Included in the high risk category are substance exposed newborns.

The following services are provided to eligible residents:

  • Childbirth Education
  • Parenting Education
  • Child Development
  • Family Planning Counseling
  • Breastfeeding Support
  • Grief Support
  • Smoking Cessation

These services are designed to promote positive birth outcomes and enable infants to experience normal growth and development. Services include counseling and education regarding nutrition, breastfeeding, smoking cessations, parenting and monitoring for developmental delays. Special attention is given to ensuring proper medical care and immunization services.
